St. Mary’s Ryken Women’s Ice Hockey Team Wins MAGHL Blue Championship

Congratulations to the St. Mary’s Ryken Girls ice hockey team for capturing the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Hockey League Blue Championship with a 3-0 win over St. John’s Catholic High School. It’s a straight win for the Knights who won the MAGHL Championship for the first time in 2020.
Junior Colleen Moore was named the game’s MVP with 2 goals, senior Gabby Pierpont won the helmet and rookie Isabella Schuster recorded her third shutout of the season.
“I’m so proud of the players on this team,” said women’s ice hockey head coach Chris Palombi. “They came together, as a unit, with a laser point to win the game as a team. in the championship against St. John’s.”
The Knights now advance to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference playoffs.
“Now we are getting back to work and preparing for the WCAC playoffs next week,” coach Palombi said. “We have some tough teams ahead of us, but every player in this team has shown they are fearless and ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. We are ready!”
