Santa Fe baseball wins after suspended play – ESPN 98.1 FM

On a rainy day in Gainesville, Florida, the Santa Fe baseball team took to the field Friday afternoon. The game was suspended due to darkness and ended Monday, February 21 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College before their previously scheduled game in Tifton, Georgia. The No.16 Saints took the win, beating ABAC 7-4 after strong performances. team sticks. Santa Fe played an extra game against ABAC, winning 10-7, moving to 10-6 on the season.
What happened
After a rain delay, the Saints started the game with an RBI single from Dylan Mock to open with a 1-0 lead late in the 1st. ABAC reacted quickly, tying the ball game at 1-1 before the start of the 2nd. Santa Fe responded with a run of their own on a JP Herrholz sacrifice fly to tag Jacob Guthrie from second base, giving the Saints a 2-1 lead.
Santa Fe increased their lead to 4-1 late in the 4th after a triple from Guthrie and a sacrifice fly from Zeb Marquis. Herrholz then threw a solo shot to give him his first home run of the season.

At the end of the 6th, the Saints increased their lead to 5-1 after an error by the Stallions. Santa Fe then took a 7-1 lead after a two-run homer from Zeb Marquis. The Stallions were yet to come out on top as they scored three early in the 8th to cut the lead to 7-4, extending the result and extending the game to Monday at ABAC due to darkness .
On Monday, the Stallions charged the bases in the top of the 9th with the go-ahead at home plate. Jake Blair then came in to pitch, closing the game with two straight strikeouts to stop the comeback. despite an extended game, the Saints overcame the ABAC Stallions after a thrilling finish.

Notable statistics
Trent Becker picked up another victory for the Saints, going 3-0 on the season in six innings, one earned run, nine hits allowed and five strikeouts.
Jake Blair made his first save of the season to preserve the win.
Both teams were strong at the plate, combining for 28 total hits. ABAC scored 16 while Santa Fe scored 12.
Zeb Marquis and JP Herrholz each scored their first homers of the season.
Jacob Guthrie also had a big game, hitting a double and a triple for the Saints.

After winning Game 1 in Tifton, Ga, Santa Fe picked up another victory over ABAC later Monday afternoon by a score of 10-7. Gabriel Esquivel finished the game with a cycle for the Saints.
