Pete Davidson booed at Syracuse basketball game after calling city ‘garbage’
Pete Davidson’s return to Syracuse didn’t go over well with local sports fans.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ star was booed at a men’s basketball game at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, three years after he called the city “trash” in an interview with Howard Stern.
“Pete seemed to be prepared for what was coming to him,” a season ticket holder who attended the game between Syracuse Orange and Louisville Cardinals exclusively told Page Six. “He brushed it off and laughed, just like the locals.”
It appears Davidson, 28, was trying to blend in with the crowd. The comedian kept a low profile in a gray hoodie, sunglasses and a Cuse hat.
“Pete stayed bundled up throughout the game. Maybe it was the single-digit temperatures,” the insider added, “or maybe it was the cold reception from the natives.”
Multiple sources told Page Six that Davidson attended the game with entrepreneur and Syracuse track and field superfan Adam Weitsman, who is known for inviting celebrities to sit courtside.
“During halftime, campus police escorted Pete to Adam’s suite, which cost approximately $1.3 million to renovate,” a source tells Us. “Everyone was trying to follow them but they kept walking.”
We’re told Davidson and Weitsman left shortly after halftime and had dinner at Funk ‘n Waffles.
Syracuse basketball reporter Mike Curtis then revealed a video message from Davidson “for the city of Syracuse” via Twitter.
“Thank you so much for hosting me and my friends in the building,” he said. “We had a great time. So, peace?
Davidson previously spent time in the Syracuse area while filming 2019’s “Big Time Adolescence” with stars like Machine Gun Kelly, Sydney Sweeney and Jon Cryer.
“Man, I was shooting this movie in Syracuse. Syracuse, you know, it’s trash,” the Staten Island native said on “The Howard Stern Show” at the time. “Worse than Staten Island. The nicest hotel in Syracuse is, like, the King Ramada.
He dissed town again in 2019, telling Variety, “It sucks. The whole city of Syracuse is blowing.
The ‘King of Staten Island’ star was dating Ariana Grande at the time. The two separated and called off their engagement in October 2018 after five months together.
Davidson is currently dating Kim Kardashian, who was not present for Saturday’s game. The reality star was instead dealing with an ongoing drama involving her ex-husband Kanye West.
