NFL analyst: Jimmy Garoppolo should ‘ditch the Nice-Guy routine’

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo comes across as a nice guy — maybe too nice. An NFL analyst thinks it’s time for him to ‘drop’ the act.

There is a belief there that Garoppolo is ready to go with the flow no matter the situation. Well, the situation he’s currently facing is one of the 49ers wanting to trade him and move on with second-year quarterback Trey Lance.

However, he is still on the 49ers roster. And there’s now a pretty clear understanding that the NFC West franchise is willing to wait until a team is desperate to move, regardless of whether they’ll be coaching Garoppolo for the long haul.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio thinks it’s time for Garoppolo to “ditch the nice guy routine” and get serious about his future.

“Some keep pushing the idea that nice guy Jimmy Garoppolo will accept whatever the 49ers choose to do with him. In the NFL, though, nice guys end up SOL,” he tweeted.

Maybe Jimmy Garoppolo knows something we don’t?

There have been reports circulating suggesting the Niners aren’t exactly happy with Lance. This might be the reason why they haven’t made a decision on Garoppolo yet.

The most likely outcome here is for the 49ers to wait until training camp to make a decision.

Garoppolo, meanwhile, should probably talk a bit more about his situation.
