Mike, Derek and the baseball stories
In case you missed the good baseball story from the young season, New York Yankee Aaron Judge recently hit a home run into the second deck of the Rogers Center in Toronto during a game against the Blue Jays. The award-winning ball was caught by Blue Jays fan Mike Lanzillotta. He quickly turned around and handed him Derek Rodriguez, a 9-year-old Yankees fan, an Aaron Judge fan of epic proportions, who was even wearing his Judge jersey.
In an “I’m not crying, you’re crying” scene that has now been replayed millions of times on the internet, the young fan burst into tears and hugged Lanzillotta. The story embodied what we love about baseball and life – the innocent, boundless joy of a child, the kindness of strangers, and baseball bringing people together. My Twitter mug overflowed with retweets of joy.
