Eleven Cornelliennes past and present invited to Hockey Canada women’s selection camp

Eleven current and former Big Red Women’s Ice Hockey team members will travel to Calgary this week to compete for spots on Canada’s National Women’s Team at the Summer Showcase Selection Camp which runs from August 3-14.
Cornell says alumni Jaime Bourbonnais, Laura Fortino, Micah Zandee-Hart, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, Kristin O’Neill and Jillian Saulnier, and current team members Sarah MacEachern, Ashley Messier, Avi Adam and McKenna Van Gelder are among 142 total players who have been invited to participate in the camps. Adam, MacEachern and Van Gelder are all freshman incoming players, and all three won gold with Team Canada at the 2022 U18 World Championships.
The Summer Showcase kicks off the 2022-23 season for Hockey Canada and the start of a new four-year Olympic cycle, as players compete for spots on Canada’s National Women’s Team, Canada’s National Women’s Development Team and the National Women’s Under-18 Team. The eleven Cornellians will be at the Markin MacPhail Center at WinSport Canada Olympic Park until the students are scheduled to arrive on Cornell campus for the fall semester.
