Complete Game Gems Help Baseball Sweep Stockton

Union, New Jersey (08/04/22) –The Kean University baseball team used two full game efforts from their tee shot to sweep Stockton University 9-0, 8-1 Friday afternoon in NJAC action.
After yesterday’s one-game rain, the two teams faced off for a doubleheader at Kean with the Cougars as the official home team in the opener and the Ospreys in the final drink.
First game
Nolan Rowan (4-0) had a complete two-hit shutout in Game 1, putting together a perfect game in the fifth inning. Thomas Elgrim broke with a two-out single in the top of the inning. Luc Fabrice was the only other batter to reach base as he hit a single in the eighth. Rowan struck out nine and walked no one against just two batters over the minimum.
Offensively, the Cougars (21-5, 4-0 NJAC) recorded 13 hits, with three hits each from Kyle Adorno, Brett Hilsheimer and Michel Lapczynski. Lapczynski led the way with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the first inning. Dylan Beyer added two hits with a double and Phil Marcantonio was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two walks.
second game
Dylan Taliaferro saved the bullpen with the second full-game effort of the day for the Cougars. Taliaferro (5-0) allowed just one run and eight no-walk hits and four strikeouts.
Kean took a 2-0 lead early in the first behind an RBI double from Phil Mahlik and an RBI single from Timothy Huxen. The Cougars made it 6-0 with a four-point third frame. Huxen tripled a point home and then scored on an error. Josh Jackson he later hit his first home run of the season, a two-run hit. The Cougars added insurance with a single RBI from Mahlik in the seventh and ninth.
The Ospreys (10-12-1, 1-3 NJAC) erased the shutout in the seventh with an RBI brace from Elgrim.
Adorno and Huxen each finished with three hits as Adorno crossed the board three times in his first role. Mahlik recorded three RBIs.
The Cougars host William Paterson University on Saturday in doubles mode.
