Baseball opens conference play in Jacksonville

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State baseball continues its season-high 10-game road trip with a visit to Jacksonville. The Owls and Dolphins kick off the ASUN conference in a three-weekend series that kicks off Friday night.

Kennesaw State has won eight of its first 10 games this season for the first time since 2011. That feat has only been accomplished twice in the program’s Division I history.
A NEW LOOK
the ryan coe The era begins with many new faces on the diamond in 2022. KSU has 23 players who are in their first year with the baseball program. This makes up 58% of the team‘s roster.
ASUN STARS
All ASUN Selections Tyler Simon and Young Cash had key impacts in the first 15 games of play. Simon recorded hits in all four games last weekend, including a 3-on-4 performance at Wofford. Young currently leads the offense for KSU in both homers (3) and RBI (12).
HUNT FOR 200
Senior Tyler Simon is six hits from 200 on his collegiate career. The shortstop is looking to become the 8th player in KSU history to surpass the 200 hit mark.
Mr MULTI HIT
Zac Corbin set up a clinic to start the 2022 slate. The sophomore outfielder has hits in 11 of 15 games this season with six multi-hit performances. Corbin is third on the team with an average of .333.
#HE IS A FRESHMAN
In the fourth game of the season, Hudson Mimbs made the first start of his college career and never looked back. The second baseman collected the first home run of his career at Troy and is averaging .314.
IN SEARCH OF OWLS

Josh Hatcher – Hatcher has made 15 starts this season and has taken first place in every game. The outfielder hits a .349 clip and leads the team in doubles. Hatcher is tied for team leader in stolen bases and holds an OBP of .397. The elder is a main cog in the offense averaging 9 hits per game.
Zac Corbin – Corbin is third on the team at bat with a .333 average. The outfielder serves three holes in a dynamic formation and has recorded a hit in 11 of KSU’s 15 games this season. The second is also tied for the team lead with six multi-game hits.
Silver Donovan – Silver can be found anywhere in the KSU range. The second started in 13 games and has a .378 batting average. Cash currently gets on base at a .451 clip and is tied for second on the team with 17 hits.
Power
Young Cash – Young leads the Owl offense in both home runs (3) and RBI (13). The senior homered twice against Fairfield and each either tied the game or gave KSU the lead. Young saw his eight-game winning streak come to an end in the series finale at Troy, but reached base safely in 13 straight games.
Nick Hassan – Hassan beats the cleanup for the KSU offense and is tied for third on the team with four doubles. The KSU catcher has recorded hits in nine of 12 games this season.
DISCOVERING DOLPHINS
Table dressers
Jonah Diaz – Diaz leads the team in batting with a .320 average. The freshman is second on the team with 10 RBIs and is getting on base at .453 percentage. Diaz is mostly found on both holes and is a main cog in the Dolphin offense.
Chase Malloy – Malloy bat for Jacksonville and has 16 starts this year. The shortstop is batting an average of .258 and has recorded five multi-hit games this season. Malloy leads the Dolphins with six stolen bases and sets the table for JU.
Power
Blake DeLamielleure – DeLamielleure starts the weekend on a four-hit streak. The sophomore is second on the team with three homers and has a .268 GAA. DeLamielleure has started 16 games this season and bats midfield for the Dolphins.
ON THE BRIDGE
